Terms of Service

Scholar is an academic-support and progress platform for learners from elementary school through adulthood. It provides AI coaching, coursework and math support, writing and presentation feedback, personalized study and practice, academic assessments, and preparation for the PSAT, SAT, ACT and AP exams. Scores and estimates shown in the product , including Scholar Index™, SAT Readiness™, exam practice ranges and other academic estimates, are directional estimates, not official scores, predicted exam results, or guarantees of any academic or admissions outcome.

Scholar Unlimited is available as a monthly plan at $9.99 per month, or as an annual plan at $120 per year. Both plans give the account holder access to premium features for as long as the subscription is in good standing. Prices are in U.S. dollars and exclude any tax that may apply.

A subscription covers one learner. Sharing an account across multiple learners, schools or programs is not permitted; institutional plans are available by contacting us.

Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing you authorize us, through Stripe, to charge your payment method the subscription price plus applicable taxes at the start of each billing period. Scholar does not store full card numbers.

If a payment fails, your subscription enters a past-due state and we retry the charge for a limited period. You will be notified in the app and by email. If payment is not recovered, premium access ends.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price until cancelled. You may cancel at any time to stop the next renewal. We will notify you by email before any price change takes effect, and a price change never applies to a period you have already paid for.

You can cancel yourself at any time from your billing settings . No email or phone call required. Cancellation stops future renewals and keeps premium access until the end of the period you have already paid for, after which the account reverts to free access. Your history, assessments and progress remain on your account and are restored if you resubscribe.

Refund requests must be made within 3 days of a charge. This applies to both the monthly and the annual (12-month) Scholar subscription. After 3 days, the charge is final and no refunds are provided for the remainder of the billing period, whether or not the account was used.

You can cancel at any time to stop future renewals; cancellation keeps premium access until the end of the period you have already paid for, but does not refund it.

Email support@thescholarapp.com with the account email and charge date. Refunds are returned to the original payment method.

A Scholar gift is a one-time purchase. It does not automatically renew, and no further charge is created from it. The purchaser buys the gift; the Scholar account always belongs to the student who receives it.

Gift access begins when the recipient activates the gift, not when it is purchased. Once activated, the recipient receives the full 12-month access period that was purchased. If the recipient already has paid access, the gifted period begins after that access ends so that no purchased time is lost.

An unclaimed gift remains available to the recipient for up to 180 days from the date of purchase. While a gift is unclaimed, we may email the purchaser to let them know it has not yet been activated, and we may allow the purchaser to resend the gift notification or correct the recipient's email address before activation. Correcting the recipient's address invalidates the previous invitation link.

If a gift remains completely unclaimed at the end of the 180-day period, meaning it was never activated and no Scholar access from that gift was ever used, we will automatically refund the gift purchase to the purchaser's original payment method. Once refunded, the gift becomes invalid and can no longer be activated. After we initiate a refund, how long it takes to appear depends on the purchaser's bank, card issuer or payment processor.

To protect the student's privacy, we confirm to the purchaser only that a gift was activated. We do not share the student's activity, coursework, writing, assessments, results or other account information with the purchaser.

You agree not to:

• share, resell or provide access to your account to anyone else;
• copy, scrape, redistribute or republish Scholar questions, explanations, reports or other content;
• use the service to cheat on a proctored exam or to misrepresent your work as your own where that is prohibited;
• attempt to bypass access controls, entitlement checks, rate limits or security measures;
• upload unlawful, harassing or harmful content, or use the AI Coach to generate it;
• use automated systems to extract content or place unreasonable load on the service.

We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these rules, and we may remove content that does.

Scholar, its software, question bank, explanations, reports, methodology and brand, including Scholar Index™, SAT Readiness™, Scholar DNA™, Scholar Intelligence Engine™, Scholar Writing Coach™ and Scholar Presentation Review™, are owned by Strategic Care Group LLC and protected by intellectual property law. You receive a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the service for your own study while your account is active.

You keep ownership of the content you upload or submit, including answers, papers, presentations, rubrics, syllabi, assignments, notes and reflections. You grant us a licence to process it in order to operate the service and generate your coaching, feedback, insights and reports.

SAT, PSAT and AP are trademarks of the College Board; ACT is a trademark of ACT, Inc. Neither organization sponsors or endorses Scholar.

Scholar uses artificial intelligence in features including AI Coach replies, explanations, study plans, summaries, writing and presentation feedback, practice content, and score, readiness or goal-score probability estimates. AI output can be incomplete, outdated or simply wrong.

Treat it as study guidance to check, not as fact, and never as academic, admissions, medical, legal or financial advice. Verify anything that matters, and tell us when something looks wrong so we can improve it.

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We work to keep Scholar running reliably, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access, and features may be added, changed or removed. We may update these terms; material changes will be announced by email or in the app before they take effect.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Strategic Care Group LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost opportunities, or any academic, testing or admissions outcome. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, in which case the limitations apply only to the extent permitted.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, United States, without regard to conflict of law rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought in the courts located there, and you and Strategic Care Group LLC consent to that jurisdiction.
