Terms of Service

These terms are maintained by Strategic Care Group LLC and govern your use of Scholar. By creating an account or subscribing, you agree to them. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree on your behalf.

Effective August 2, 2026 · Last updated August 2, 2026

The service

Scholar is a study and academic-progress tool for the PSAT, SAT, ACT and AP exams. Scores shown in the product — including Scholar Index™, Readiness™ and estimated practice ranges — are directional practice estimates, not official scores, predicted exam results, or guarantees of any academic or admissions outcome.

Subscription terms

Scholar Unlimited costs $9.99 per month and gives the account holder access to premium features for as long as the subscription is in good standing. Prices are in U.S. dollars and exclude any tax that may apply.

A subscription covers one student. Sharing an account across multiple students, schools or programs is not permitted; school and district plans are available by contacting us.

Billing

Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing you authorize us, through Stripe, to charge your payment method the subscription price plus applicable taxes at the start of each billing period. Scholar does not store full card numbers.

If a payment fails, your subscription enters a past-due state and we retry the charge for a limited period. You will be notified in the app and by email. If payment is not recovered, premium access ends.

Automatic renewal

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price until cancelled. You may cancel at any time to stop the next renewal. We will notify you by email before any price change takes effect, and a price change never applies to a period you have already paid for.

Cancellation

You can cancel yourself at any time from your billing settings — no email or phone call required. Cancellation stops future renewals and keeps premium access until the end of the period you have already paid for, after which the account reverts to free access. Your history, assessments and progress remain on your account and are restored if you resubscribe.

Refund policy

Because Scholar is billed monthly and can be cancelled at any time, we generally do not provide refunds for partial periods already served. We will review a refund request made within 7 days of a charge — for example, an accidental renewal or a duplicate charge — and issue a refund where the circumstances warrant it.

Email support@thescholarapp.com with the account email and charge date. Refunds are returned to the original payment method.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • share, resell or provide access to your account to anyone else;
  • copy, scrape, redistribute or republish Scholar questions, explanations, reports or other content;
  • use the service to cheat on a proctored exam or to misrepresent your work as your own where that is prohibited;
  • attempt to bypass access controls, entitlement checks, rate limits or security measures;
  • upload unlawful, harassing or harmful content, or use the AI coach to generate it;
  • use automated systems to extract content or place unreasonable load on the service.

We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these rules, and we may remove content that does.

Intellectual property

Scholar, its software, question bank, explanations, reports, methodology and brand — including Scholar Index™, Readiness™, Scholar DNA™ and Scholar Intelligence Engine™ — are owned by Strategic Care Group LLC and protected by intellectual property law. You receive a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the service for your own study while your account is active.

You keep ownership of the content you submit (answers, notes, reflections). You grant us a licence to process it in order to operate the service and generate your coaching, insights and reports.

SAT, PSAT and AP are trademarks of the College Board; ACT is a trademark of ACT, Inc. Neither organization sponsors or endorses Scholar.

AI-generated content disclaimer

Substantial parts of Scholar — coaching replies, explanations, study plans, summaries, score estimates and readiness or admissions probabilities — are generated by artificial intelligence. AI output can be incomplete, outdated or simply wrong.

Treat it as study guidance to check, not as fact, and never as academic, admissions, medical, legal or financial advice. Verify anything that matters, and tell us when something looks wrong so we can improve it.

Availability and changes

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We work to keep Scholarrunning reliably, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access, and features may be added, changed or removed. We may update these terms; material changes will be announced by email or in the app before they take effect.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Strategic Care Group LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost opportunities, or any academic, testing or admissions outcome. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, in which case the limitations apply only to the extent permitted.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, United States, without regard to conflict of law rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought in the courts located there, and you and Strategic Care Group LLC consent to that jurisdiction.
